We are looking for a Business Development Consultant to help us grow our impact from Africa to Latin America and Europe, with the energy to lead our sales strategy. You will help us find exciting new projects, pitch our frameworks, and build relationships that matter.

Groundd | Nature-Based Solutions & Inclusive Development

Background
Groundd is a women-led consulting boutique advancing community-centered development, inclusive conservation enterprises, and policy innovation for sustainable trade. We work across Africa, Latin America, and Europe, advising governments, NGOs, and businesses on community engagement, nature-based solutions, sustainable value chains, climate resilience, and green policy development.

We are expanding our presence beyond Africa, targeting European and LATAM markets where our frameworks and technical services can support institutions building impactful, climate-smart, and inclusive programs.

Objective
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Consultant with proven track record in consulting, impact-driven solutions, and nature-based work to lead and grow Groundd’s project portfolio in Europe and Latin America. This includes both outbound (proactive outreach and proposal development) and inbound (screening and converting leads) business development strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new consulting opportunities aligned with Groundd’s focus areas (e.g., NbS, sustainable value chains, gender-inclusive development, and community-based enterprise).

  • Lead outbound sales efforts: mapping organizations, setting up meetings, building partnerships, and co-developing project proposals.

  • Manage inbound leads: qualifying opportunities, coordinating responses, and ensuring alignment with Groundd’s capacity and strategic goals.

  • Monitor and analyze trends in donor funding, government programs, and private-sector sustainability initiatives across European and LATAM markets.

  • Represent Groundd in networking events and meetings with partners, donors, and clients.

  • Support strategic visibility and positioning through collaboration with the communications team (e.g., case studies, decks, pitch material).
     

Required Profile

  • Based in or able to regularly work from Lisbon, Mafra, or Ericeira.

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in business development and consulting, preferably in sectors related to sustainability, development, or impact.

  • Solid understanding of nature-based solutions, climate resilience, and/or inclusive business models (strongly preferred).

  • Track record of proposal writing and securing consulting projects or funding in Europe and/or Latin America.

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.

  • Comfortable working independently, while collaborating with a global and remote team.

  • Fluent in English. Portuguese and Spanish are a very strong advantage.

Timeframe & Commitment

  • Initial engagement: 12 months consultancy contract (renewable based on performance).

  • Estimated commitment: 5 days per week.

  • Work from the office in Ericeira at least 2 days a week.

  • Start in July 2025.
