From 6,000m Peaks to Local Impact
Laís is our Project Manager and the FPIC, Community Engagement, and Value Chains Coordinator. She coordinates our field implementation and technical deliverables for the design and pilot phase of the Onça Ecological Corridor project in Bahia, Brazil.
Her work focuses on ensuring the application of Groundd’s CERS framework through Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC), community engagement, and socio-economic diagnostics. By mapping nature-positive value chains and identifying community enterprise opportunities, Laís translates field findings into practical recommendations for conservation, restoration, and investment readiness. In addition, she supports RAMO through Groundd’s consultancy, providing strategic expertise in grant writing.
Laís is an international development professional dedicated to translating investments and philanthropic efforts into sustainable, long-lasting impact. She has extensive experience working with Indigenous communities across Latin America and previously led the Community Development Department of the largest FSC-certified sustainable forest concession in Mozambique. Laís also coordinated a multi-year agroforestry community of practice involving 30 international institutions.
A former scout and high-altitude trekker, she has completed solo expeditions in Nepal and summited the 6,000-meter Sajama Volcano in Bolivia, reflecting the same resilience and determination she brings to empowering local communities and protecting thriving biodiversity.
